Before the introduction of the CRM project, we were totally dependent on burning because the Basmati 1401 paddy variety, produces a lot of volume of stubble than other varieties- it generally produces 2.5 to 3 tons of stubbles in one acre of land. To clean the fields for sowing of next crop we used to burn it in the field because of a short window between harvesting of paddy and favorable conditions for sowing of wheat. After the intervention of CIIF CRM project we got the machineries in M.P.C.S in the village that has helped us for stubble management and timely sowing of wheat. During the recent rabi season, we used Smart seeder provided by HDFC and CIIF for wheat sowing without burning of stubble and we got excellent results in crop production as well as our surrounding environment. With the help of HDFC and CII Foundation farmers in our village are able to hire the required machineries such as Smart Seeder and Super seeder from the society that CIIF has provided. Most of the farmers are using these machines for handling biomass so that we don’t need to burn paddy stubbles in our field. Moreover, now we are able to mix this waste in the soil, as a result of which the healthy microbial activity has increased in soil and after decomposing it turns into organic compost and help in maintaining productivity and soil health. Since the intervention of the project, we have not burned paddy waste in the field. We are thankful to HDFC Parivartan and CII Foundation for such a great initiative against stubble burning..
