Why Healthcare

Access to quality healthcare remains one of the most pressing challenges for underserved communities. Lack of awareness, limited infrastructure and uneven distribution of resources often leave underserved communities without timely and appropriate healthcare support. Improving health awareness, enhancing healthcare infrastructure, and building capacity of healthcare professionals are crucial steps towards creating healthy and resilient communities. These initiatives yield significant positive outcomes by reducing the disease burden, enhancing individual productivity, and promoting economic growth.

What We Do

The CII Foundation combines strengthening local health systems with building awareness on preventive care, ensuring that communities not only receive quality healthcare, but also informed and empowered to make healthier choices. Launched in 2025, this initiative adopts a multi-stakeholder approach, with the CII Foundation working closely with government, industry, healthcare providers, and communities to increase awareness, strengthen infrastructure, and improve access to quality healthcare.

Key Interventions

Strengthening public health infrastructure through reconstruction and renovation of healthcare facilities such as Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
- In Kerala, six health centres were reconstructed/renovated namely, North Paravur Taluk Headquarters Hospital, Community Health Centre Moothakunnam, Family Health Centres in Chittattukara, Puthuvyppu, Mulavukadu, and Avoly.
- In Tamil Nadu, medical equipments were provided to 17 health facilities across six blocks of Tiruvallur district.
- In Andhra Pradesh, a pilot project was launched to create a model maternity ward for post-natal care at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Guntur.
Promoting health awareness and child nutrition through targeted initiatives across Government schools in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi. The initiative empowers school children to become health ambassadors in their communities through structured awareness sessions and experiential learning.
Strengthening community health in collaboration by equipping frontline health workers and local governance members with necessary tools and training to improve health and nutrition services while also mobilising communities to take an active role in the healthcare system. The intervention ensures that services are accessible, efficient, and inclusive, particularly for women, children, and adolescents.

Impact

Enhanced school health programmes and community health outcomes across multiple states, with frontline workers empowered to deliver better services.
The model ward in Andhra Pradesh is serving a population of 2.1 million people approximately and catering to 6,000 pregnancies annually.

Earlier, adolescent girls in our village did not understand the importance of hygiene. During menstruation, they did not follow proper practices or use sanitary pads, and many stopped going to school. After the awareness sessions, girls have become more conscious about hygiene, and those who had dropped out are now returning to school.
