
Collective Action for Cleaner Air: Polo Majra’s Journey to Zero Stubble Burning
Polo Majra village in Fatehgarh Sahib district in Punjab has set a remarkable example by achieving Zero Stubble Burning- a significant step toward preserving soil health and combating environmental degradation. Stubble burning, a practice which harms soil quality and contributes to air pollution, was eliminated in the village in 2024. This milestone, achieved with the support of the District Administration, PTC India Financial Services Limited (PFS), CII Foundation, and farmers,reduced stubble burning from 117 acres in the previous year to zero in season 2024 , saving a total of 390 acres of farmland.
