Waste Management Initiative
Promoting a Cleaner and Greener Environment

Why Waste Management
India faces a mounting challenge in waste management, threatening environmental sustainability and public health, especially in densely populated urban areas. Improper disposal practices lead to piles of garbage along roadsides, plastic-clogged drains, and untreated waste contaminating water bodies which continue to degrade natural ecosystems and increase the risk of disease outbreaks. The ripple effects include polluted air and water, rising greenhouse gas emissions, and deteriorating urban living conditions.
What We Do
To address the challenges posed by inefficient waste management, the CII Foundation leads transformative waste management projects across diverse landscapes such as Delhi, Kerala, Haryana, and Ladakh, working in partnership with government, corporates and local communities. The multi-stakeholder projects are community led and complement the government initiatives to promote efficient waste collection, processing, recycling and disposal to create zero-waste neighbourhoods.
