CII Relief Interventions

Considering the magnitude of damage caused in different areas, CII provided immediate relief to those affected by floods in Tamil Nadu. During the relief operation, CII was in constant touch with various Government Agencies, Defence & paramilitary services, large humanitarian agencies and local authorities to assess the situation and provide most urgent relief support in the affected areas. Several medical camps were organized and flood relief kits were distributed to people affected by flood in and around Chennai.

A special Task Force was set up with members from Industry, to co-ordinate industry’s effort in rescue, relief and rehabilitation in the affected areas of Tamil Nadu.

CII is strategizing its long term rehabilitation initiatives in Chennai and Cuddalore. CII is presently undertaking rehabilitation initiatives in Chennai and Cuddalore. The interventions include rebuilding and restoring hostels for SC/ST students that were affected by disaster and supporting livelihoods of tribal community and rebuilding infrastructure of Anganwadis, kitchen cum noon meal centers, schools etc. This would require tremendous support and generosity from all.
