In 2020, the lockdown and restrictions imposed on the citizens due to the outbreak of Coronavirus brought both life and livelihoods to a halt. With daily wages and livelihoods taking a hit, most of the daily wage workers, migrant labourers, and many other underserved communities were struggling for even basic sustenance. In such extraordinary times, it was especially imperative to address the woes of the lives most devastated by the pandemic. CII and CII Foundation were actively engaged in providing relief to those affected besides a host of other activities.
The second wave of Covid-19 in 2021also severely impacted lives and livelihoods and to address the challenges posed by the second wave, CII and CII Foundation stepped up their engagement to preserve lives and livelihoods.
CII and CII Foundation worked relentlessly to enable relief support among the marginalized communities across the country by providing ration kits, hygiene kits, daily essentials, and creating awareness urging people to stay indoors, maintain hygiene, and follow physical distancing. Efforts were made to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure by setting up additional Covid-care Centres, expanding Covid-ICUs, setting up Tele-ICUs, operationalising Vaccination Centres and installing oxygen pipelines besides procurement and deployment of medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, O2 concentrators, ventilators etc in hospitals across the country.
